World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to increase an item's gear score up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like an ideally rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and damage from PvP. They also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Many weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a group. In certain instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity and level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is usually a positive aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're exceptionally lucky.
The ability to upgrade armor items to boost their effectiveness. This will increase the base defense of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it can sometimes reduce its value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain upon upgrading along with the relative value of those stats. This means that a change from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will hit for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button on the item menu with the circling arrows. This will reroll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's levels or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make an enormous difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which can make traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense you have for your character, the more health you will receive from each point. Therefore, item upgrade 's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock each fountain, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. For example the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a large group of enemies in the majority of cold environments, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to survive a full on raid with a few of your friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll want to focus on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still wear at the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also get some perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have some upgrades of the chest armor and helmets that let you stealthy battle some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed give the player an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions, each having particular effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount of XP. This can be earned by making them on a table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion used and the item's rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI that allows you to choose the potion that you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they will provide when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP total.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it won't degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the mechanism of potions. For instance splash potions now have an average duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds shown on the item hover display). The potion table can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron drains the potion and refills the bottle.
Finally, there are lingering potions, which are made with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone is also added to potions that are lingering to increase their effects. The table of potion ingredients is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, such as the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece jewelry. It can also refer to an object or ornament that serves a function but is not particularly significant like a tiny thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is used to express affection or friendship between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons, armor, and potions. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. In contrast to other upgrades for items, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of trinkets that are rare.
Upgrading a trinket is an economical alternative to buying a new one. One can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same level of base as the previous trinket but will also have an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer needed which allows a player to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an extremely popular alternative to gold.
In general players should make upgrades to their most important items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other pieces of gear that they will not be replacing soon (for example, a ring or cloak). When deciding the items to upgrade, players should consider the preferred statistics of their class. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank it is recommended that they upgrade their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and chest.
After they've become unusable, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1percent bonus. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
